Information stored on your device

RecallIt stores information you choose to save in the app’s private local storage. The primary library uses a local SQLite database. This may include:

• Web addresses you save or share into the app.
• Titles, descriptions, and notes you enter.
• Collections and collection membership.
• Favorite and archive status.
• Creation and update timestamps.
• Temporary incoming-share draft information until it is reviewed, consumed, or discarded.

Recent search phrases, recent activity, the System, Light, or Dark appearance preference, and the Fetch link previews setting are stored locally using Android Shared Preferences. Successful previews store a discovered image URL and a downloaded cache image. This information supports the app’s capture, organization, editing, search, and retrieval functions.

Information RecallIt does not send as library content

In the current release, RecallIt has no account system or cloud backend and does not intentionally collect or transmit:

• Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or account credentials.
• Precise or approximate location.
• Contacts, call logs, SMS, photos, videos, audio, or files.
• Saved library content for advertising targeting.
• First-party analytics events or behavioral profiles.
• Crash reports through a third-party service.
• Saved library content to the operator’s servers.

Android sharing and external links

When you explicitly share text or a link to RecallIt from another Android app, RecallIt receives the shared text and optional subject to prepare an editable draft. RecallIt does not automatically save or open the content. You review and confirm the draft first. Unsupported shared content is discarded and is not retained.

When you choose Open link, RecallIt passes the selected HTTP or HTTPS address to an external browser or compatible app. That external app and destination website operate under their own privacy policies.

Network access, advertising, and third-party services

RecallIt’s core saving, organization, and search functions do not require a network connection, and the app does not synchronize saved content to an operator backend.

Fetch link previews is enabled by default and can be turned off in Settings. After a successful explicit save, a general HTTP or HTTPS link may cause RecallIt to request the saved page, inspect its Open Graph or Twitter image declaration, and request that image. Supported YouTube links may instead request a derived image directly from i.ytimg.com. The contacted host receives the requested URL or derived video ID and normal network information such as the device IP address. RecallIt stores the image URL and a local cached image; it does not send notes, searches, collection names, or unrelated library content. Requests are bounded, are not aggressively retried, and never prevent saving when they fail. Disabling the setting prevents new preview requests.

The Android app includes Google Mobile Ads to request and display restrained banner advertisements on eligible screens. Google may process information such as IP address, app interactions, diagnostic information, and device or advertising identifiers, depending on device settings, consent, region, and SDK configuration. Google may use this information for ad delivery, measurement, analytics, and fraud prevention.

RecallIt uses Google’s User Messaging Platform to request consent information when required and to expose privacy choices when Google reports they are available. RecallIt does not read, persist, or combine an advertising identifier with saved library content. SDK-managed identifier use remains subject to platform settings, consent, and Google’s policies.

Permissions

RecallIt is designed not to request broad storage, media, contacts, location, microphone, or camera permissions for its current feature set. Internet access supports Google Mobile Ads, UMP consent, and optional post-save link previews. Android’s text-sharing mechanism lets RecallIt receive user-initiated text/plain shares without broad file access.

Backups and data location

RecallIt stores its app-managed library in the app’s private storage area. Android automatic cloud backup and device-transfer backup are disabled for RecallIt’s private database and preferences in the current release configuration.

RecallIt provides manual encrypted export and restore through Android’s document picker. A .recallit file contains a portable database snapshot and allowlisted preferences encrypted with AES-256-GCM using a PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 password-derived key. Downloaded preview files are excluded. RecallIt never stores or uploads the password and cannot recover it.

The user chooses where Android stores the encrypted file, which may include a user-configured cloud document provider. RecallIt does not access that provider in the background and does not provide cloud sync. Restore validates the backup and replaces the current local library. Export the current library first, retain the file safely, and protect its password. Uninstalling or clearing app data may permanently remove local data when no usable export exists.

Data sharing and sale

RecallIt does not sell personal data. It does not share your local library with the operator or advertising partners. Google Mobile Ads may independently process the limited device, network, interaction, and diagnostic data described above.

Opening a saved URL transfers that URL to the external browser you choose. This is necessary to perform your requested action and is not a sale of data.

Data retention and deletion

Saved items remain on your device until you delete them, clear the app’s data, or uninstall the app. Archive is an organizational state and does not delete an item. Deleting an item through RecallIt permanently removes it from the local database.

Because RecallIt has no account or remote copy, the operator normally cannot retrieve or delete local content on your behalf.

Security

RecallIt uses Android’s private application storage and a signed release process. The project avoids logging saved URLs, titles, notes, collection names, search phrases, and incoming-share content.

No system can guarantee absolute security. Device security, operating-system protections, physical access, and the privacy practices of external apps may affect your information. RecallIt does not claim that locally stored data is encrypted.

Children’s privacy

RecallIt is a general productivity tool and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. The current app does not operate accounts or a remote collection service. The operator must select an accurate target audience and comply with applicable child-protection requirements before publication.

Your choices and rights

• You decide what content to save.
• You can edit, organize, archive, restore, and permanently delete local items.
• You can turn Fetch link previews off to prevent new preview requests.
• You can manually export and restore a password-encrypted portable backup.
• You can clear recent searches from within the app where available.
• You can remove app-managed local information by clearing application data or uninstalling RecallIt.
• Where available, you can review advertising privacy choices from Settings. Device-level advertising controls may also apply.

Depending on your location, data-protection laws may provide additional rights. Because RecallIt has no user accounts or remote library, the operator may not possess the local content needed to fulfil a remote access request.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when RecallIt’s features, SDKs, permissions, data practices, or legal requirements change. The effective and last-updated dates will be revised, and material changes should be disclosed through the app, website, or store listing as appropriate.

Google Play disclosures

The operator is responsible for ensuring that the Google Play Data safety section accurately matches the released app, this policy, Google Mobile Ads, and every included third-party SDK. A public privacy-policy URL and an in-app link or text should be available before publishing outside internal-only testing.
